NCIS Los Angeles review: “Smokescreen Part 2”

Here’s my review of NCIS Los Angeles season ten episode “Smokescreen Part 2.” Please note that this isn’t a recap of what happens. I’m assuming that you’ve already seen the episode. There are spoilers in this review.

Reviewing a two-part episode separately is always a bit tricky. You have to remember what happened in the previous episode, and then decide how well the two episodes connect together. It was a little frustrating CBS scheduled “Smokescreen Part 2” to air a couple weeks after Part 1, but in the end, the wait was worth it. Though it didn’t live up to the excitement of Part 1, this week’s episode was still a thrilling conclusion.

Here’s my review of NCIS Los Angeles season ten episode “Smokescreen.” Please note that this isn’t a recap of what happens. I’m assuming that you’ve already seen the episode. There are spoilers in this review.

I have criticized a couple of episodes this season for being a bit dull and filler-ish. The main reason for this is that there’s not really an overarching storyline this season and there hasn’t been many episodes focusing on a character’s personal storyline. Typically the inclusion of those things makes the season much more interesting to watch.

“Smokescreen,” however, ended up being an excellent hour of television. And it didn’t need either of those things. It’s simply a good example of good television by tying together a fascinating story with emotional resonance.
